Founding and Vision
Under the divine guidance of the Almighty and the visionary leadership of Giani Gagandeep Singh Nirmale, the Gurmat Sewa Society was officially established in February 2006. However, the seeds of this mission were sown much earlier

Early Journey and Inspiration
In 1997, Giani Gagandeep Singh began Langar Sewa (community kitchen service) on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis, especially during auspicious Sikh occasions such as Gurpurabs and Hola Mohalla. Over time, this service expanded, attracting more people and inspiring a larger fellowship.
Eventually, they decided to give a name to this growing movement. The house where this mission began was called an Ashram. As it gained popularity, it was renamed "Nirmal Ashram", signifying something sacred, pure, and unadulterated—free from communalism, religion, politics, and any form of discrimination.
The name "Nirmal" was inspired by the core values of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji’s mission: Nirmal Vichardhara, which emphasizes:
-> Seva (Selfless Service)
-> Naam Japna (Meditation on the Divine Name)
-> Kirat Karni (Honest Living)
-> Vand Chakna (Sharing with Others)
The guiding principle remains: “Work hard, share your earnings, and meditate on the name of God.” Later, land was purchased in Jandali village, which became the official head office of the Nirmal Ashram.
